The game features a strong narrative, atmospheric graphics, and a blend of exploration and combat, with elements of horror and suspense as Samus confronts the threat of the X Parasite. Additionally, players must contend with an ominous "SA-X," a doppelgänger created from Samus's own DNA, adding layers of tension and challenge to the gameplay.
