Pokémon Ranger is an action-adventure game released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. Players take on the role of a Pokémon Ranger, tasked with protecting the environment and assisting Pokémon in distress. Instead of capturing Pokémon like in traditional games, players use a special device called the Capture Styler to temporarily befriend and direct Pokémon to help solve various puzzles and confront wild Pokémon. The game features a unique drawing mechanic that adds an interactive element to capturing Pokémon and includes a rich narrative that emphasizes teamwork and conservation within the Pokémon world.
